On 23 November 2010, Heads of Government from 13 countries with a global range of wild tigers, including the People‘s Republic of Bangladesh, the Kingdom of Bhutan, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the People‘s Republic of China, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People‘s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, the Union of Myanmar, the Kingdom of Nepal, the Russian Federation, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, With the conviction to protect the world‘s last wild tiger, we have gathered in the city of St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, for the unprecedented International Forum on Tiger Conservation (Tiger Summit). At the summit, government representatives recognized that the survival of wild tigers was at a critical point. Over the past 100 years, the global wild tiger population has plummeted from 100,000 to fewer than 3,500. Wild tigers are one of the most important indicators of a healthy ecosystem. If this trend is not reversed, the result will not only be a decline in the number of wild tigers, but also a huge loss of biodiversity across Asia and the ecosystems on which we all depend due to the loss of their habitat and their extinction. To this end, the 13 global wild tiger range countries adopted a major joint action plan - "Global Wild Tiger Population Recovery Plan" at the summit, and jointly issued the "Global Wild Tiger range Countries Summit Declaration", calling on the national governments of wild tiger range countries, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and other wild tiger conservation organizations and individuals to work together. Through scientific and effective means to promote the protection of wild tigers and their habitats, and strive to double the number of wild tigers in the next year of the Tiger, 2022. At the same time, in order to build public awareness of wild tiger protection, the summit designated July 29 as the "World Tiger Love Day".
